24

So glad 24 is now on Sky|one, what with the adverts and the crumby logo across the screen, and the Thursday night slot same time as e.r.
*sigh*

I'll just wait until the DVD comes out...

Did I ever tell you I had dinner in Paris with the script editor of the first season of 24? No? Let me tell you then: I had dinner with the script editor of the first season of 24 in Paris.

I had the misfortune to be reading in the living room while wifey was watching E.R. It still sucks. And damn I missed 24, though as I can’t abide television, I doubt I would be able to sit through it.

You and the whole world except me had breakfast with a scriptwriter on 24.

e.r. isn’t the masterpiece it once was, granted, but I still like it; you can’t dismiss season 1 and make any claims to good taste IMO.

99% of TV is unappealing to me, ‘can’t abide’ is maybe too strong a phrase for me but then I have a limited dictionary and need to apply my descriptives with care in such a big bad world.

I’m not impressed with 24… but then I’m rarely impressed with TV and I’m offended by shows that assume I’m going to want to watch them every week, there’s much better things to do!

Does exactly what it says on the (comic book) tin. Loved it.
  • Little Miss Sunshinerating
Very funny, disturbing (the beauty pageant) and completely messed up -- but in a good way.
  • Laputa: Castle in the Skyrating
Story great, characterization a little on the weak side -- though the big robots are cool.
  • Porco Rossorating
    Stylish, funny, exciting.
  • Grave of the Firefliesrating
Very sad, which was a little unexpected since I didn't know much about it before watching it. Can be a little too slow in places though, otherwise it's very good.
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Windrating
The story can get a little dense at times what with the various factions, but still really enjoyable, inventive and engaging.
  • X-Men: The Last Standrating
Opportunity, talent, money - all blown. Over 3 films X-Men has hinted of something great that could have been, this last one says "No, sorry - not going to happen". Bah.
