Cataloguing

I'm not so sure about this current version of the old weblog, but I do like the CIP-esque data at the bottom. FOAF link under author (the FOAF-a-matic was a great help here), keywords linked to relevant Open Directory Project data and my Creative Commons License. The XML feeds kinda represent series information. I don't think there's much point in mentioning the height of the page. All we need now is an XML format for specifying CIP Data. Snazzy.

I was quite surprised to find Donaghadee had such a healthy section in the Open Directory (the 'Dee is very small). Even Millisle manages to get a look-in (and it's smaller, and *cough* mankier).

Of course, sometimes cataloguing isn't taken well, for whatever reason. (All right thinking people agree Slugger isn't a weblog, and don't think it an insult to say so.)

In other news, a friend of mine is in Kabul at the minute, hard work, stressful but nice people and definately interesting times. ABaman-e Khuda: Khuda hafez, dude.

well since you brought up the height of the page, it is a bit awkward on a laptop…

Stephen said on Mon 23 Feb at 18:46:

too tall, too wide? I bet it’s too wide…

trish said on Mon 23 Feb at 20:00:

no, too tall… I have to scroll down a long way. Could you just shrink everything, font and all?

trish said on Mon 23 Feb at 22:39:

even just switching the current reading list to be below the list section so we don’t have to scroll down as far to comment. Unless you’ve hidden a short-cut comment function somewhere and I’m slow on the uptake…

Hit the title!

But you’re right, the design is pretty awkward. I will get it right someday. :)

trish said on Tue 24 Feb at 03:31:

I found that, but then i still have to scroll down to reach the comment box though, what about a link to the start of the comments? (please realize I’m being amazingly picky and if someone made these demands of me I’d just flip them the bird and ignore happily…)

trish said on Tue 24 Feb at 17:37:

i hope you didn’t axe the reading list just because I said something…

Stephen said on Tue 24 Feb at 18:03:

Nah, well, yes you were the impetus but the decision was mine and not based on the reasons you gave. :)

trish said on Wed 25 Feb at 00:18:

when did you add that bit about all right thinking people to the end of the post? I just noticed it now.

Stephen said on Wed 25 Feb at 00:22:

This evening… is it bad?

trish said on Wed 25 Feb at 16:44:

since i agree with you, I don’t think so.

Does exactly what it says on the (comic book) tin. Loved it.
  • Little Miss Sunshinerating
Very funny, disturbing (the beauty pageant) and completely messed up -- but in a good way.
  • Laputa: Castle in the Skyrating
Story great, characterization a little on the weak side -- though the big robots are cool.
  • Porco Rossorating
    Stylish, funny, exciting.
  • Grave of the Firefliesrating
Very sad, which was a little unexpected since I didn't know much about it before watching it. Can be a little too slow in places though, otherwise it's very good.
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Windrating
The story can get a little dense at times what with the various factions, but still really enjoyable, inventive and engaging.
  • X-Men: The Last Standrating
Opportunity, talent, money - all blown. Over 3 films X-Men has hinted of something great that could have been, this last one says "No, sorry - not going to happen". Bah.
