The film is fine, nothing to write home about though. The ape is magnificent technically and artistically. Naomi Watts is, well, /lovely/.

Does exactly what it says on the (comic book) tin. Loved it.

Very funny, disturbing (the beauty pageant) and completely messed up -- but in a good way.

Story great, characterization a little on the weak side -- though the big robots are cool.

Stylish, funny, exciting.

Very sad, which was a little unexpected since I didn't know much about it before watching it. Can be a little too slow in places though, otherwise it's very good.

The story can get a little dense at times what with the various factions, but still really enjoyable, inventive and engaging.

Opportunity, talent, money - all blown. Over 3 films X-Men has hinted of something great that could have been, this last one says "No, sorry - not going to happen". Bah.

Funny, I thought if the director wanted some hot chick to crawl around on her hands and kness for three hours he would have chosen someone with a more, erm, lumpy jumper.
The film was dire, admit it. Not LotR dire, but dire all the same. Jack Black is a star, though. And yes, Naomi Watts is lovely. The whole period dress. Yum.
Leaving aside the meaning of the word dire for now, why do I have to ‘admit’ that the film was anything? And Jack Black is a clown, he did his best but this was not the role for him.
Well, I could have called it drab, that would have been worse in word-meaning terms.
I used the term ‘The film was dire, admit it’ without the ‘gwan’ at the start ‘so it was, so’ at the end. A mere literary venacular cajoling mechanism. Not meant to be combatorial nor deep-discussion inducing. Goading and well, weblawg commenting.
As for JB, I thought he did well against the script. I disagree, I thought he played what he was asked to well. Still, a wasted 3 hours. And a waste of an Amazon rental gubbins malarkey turn thing.
Keep your cajoles to yourself sir. It wasn’t a good film that’s for sure, 2 stars were it not for Naomi.
