Oh wise readership, I have a question. Assuming we have a position to judge, should human actions be judged by outcome or by intent?

Does exactly what it says on the (comic book) tin. Loved it.

Very funny, disturbing (the beauty pageant) and completely messed up -- but in a good way.

Story great, characterization a little on the weak side -- though the big robots are cool.

Stylish, funny, exciting.

Very sad, which was a little unexpected since I didn't know much about it before watching it. Can be a little too slow in places though, otherwise it's very good.

The story can get a little dense at times what with the various factions, but still really enjoyable, inventive and engaging.

Opportunity, talent, money - all blown. Over 3 films X-Men has hinted of something great that could have been, this last one says "No, sorry - not going to happen". Bah.

Outcome! No, intent! Wait, perhaps outcome! No, really, intent! Outcome! Intent! Outcome!
Perhaps neither, as it happens. Headshots and let God deal with them.
It’s impossible to call this without more information and context.
For instance if your girlfriend said
“Am I fat”
and you said
“Yes you could do with losing a few pounds”
and she went off and lost a load of weight, then the outcome would be pretty good, but the intent was pretty evil.
However a different scenario might be you spotting a friends girlfriend with another bloke, you tell him and the outcome is they finish. In this scenario the intent was to the greater good.
So, you need to give more details of the scenario for me to judge accurately, and also I’m nosey…what have you done?
It depends on perspective; What do we call good or bad?
Could it be that there is no “good” or “bad” outcome?
Rather, it depends on our perspective at the time, some “Actions” seem “good” at a given moment in time but in the long term can have a serious, detrimental, unforeseen consequence.
Fate is a fickle mistress!
We only ever know that which is manifest and not which is not!
If we act with integrity and kindness how can this ever have a detrimental outcome?
Intent is the first act, the rest follows the initial intent…
Any act of intent is to use the very fabric of creation itself…
